    Jianlin worked at Waterloo Maple as a software developer before joining MERL in 1998. His primary research interests include reliable wireless networks, SmartGrid systems, vehicular communications, broadband wireless communications, and embedded systems.

    • EC1153: Intelligent Connectivity in Vehicular Networks

      MERL is seeking a highly motivated, qualified intern to join the Electronics and Communications group for a three month internship program. The ideal candidate will be expected to carry out research on the intelligent connectivity within vehicular networks (V2V/V2I). The candidate is expected to develop innovative edge computing technology to realize real time control and services. The candidates should have knowledge of the vehicular networking and data classification. Knowledge of the machine learning is a plus. Candidates in their junior or senior years of a Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply.

    • EC1154: Time Sensitive Networking in Vehicular Environment

      MERL is seeking a highly motivated, qualified intern to join the Electronics and Communications group for a three month internship program. The ideal candidate will be expected to carry out research on time sensitive vehicular networking. The candidate is expected to develop innovative technology to model the behavior of the vehicular devices and the vehicular environment for time sensitive networking support. The candidates should have knowledge of in-vehicle and inter-vehicle networking (e.g., CAN, WAVE), be familiar with network simulation such as NS3. Knowledge of time sensitive networking is a plus. Candidates in their junior or senior years of a Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply.

    • EC1155: Coexistence of the Heterogeneous Wireless Technologies

      MERL is seeking a highly motivated, qualified intern to join the Electronics and Communications group for a three month internship program. The ideal candidate will be expected to carry out research on coexistence of the heterogeneous wireless technologies in the Sub-1 GHz (S1G) band. The candidate is expected to develop innovative coexistence technology for IEEE 802.15.4g to mitigate interference caused by other S1G technologies such as IEEE 802.11ah, LoRa and SigFox. The candidates should have knowledge of 802.15.4g and 802.11ah protocols. Additionally, the candidate should also be familiar with NS3 simulators. Candidates in their junior or senior years of a Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply.

    • EC1156: Time Synchronization over Heterogeneous Access Networks

      MERL is seeking a highly motivated, qualified intern to join the Electronics and Communications group for a three month internship program. The ideal candidate will be expected to carry out research on time sensitive networking over heterogeneous access networks. The candidate is expected to develop innovative technology to accurately synchronize nodes over heterogeneous access networks. The candidates should have knowledge of clock synchronization and time sensitive networking as being developed in IEEE 802.1, be familiar with network simulator such as NS3. Knowledge of the IEEE and IETF synchronization standards such as PTP and NTP is a plus. Candidates in their junior or senior years of a Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply.
