Huifang Sun received his B.Sc. degree from Harbin Engineering Institute, Harbin, China in 1967, and his Ph.D. from University of Ottawa, Canada, in 1986. He was an Associate Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University before moving to Sarnoff Research Laboratory in 1990, where he was Technology Leader of Digital Video Communication. He joined MERL in 1995. His research interests include digital video/image compression and digital communication.
