  • Abstract:

    Avishai Weiss from MERL's Control and Dynamical Systems group will give a talk at Stanford's Aeronautics and Astronautics department titled: "Low-Thrust GEO Satellite Station Keeping, Attitude Control, and Momentum Management via Model Predictive Control". Electric propulsion for satellites is much more fuel efficient than conventional methods. The talk will describe MERL's solution to the satellite control problems deriving from the low thrust provided by electric propulsion.

    Avishai Weiss is a Principal Research Scientist in the Control and Dynamical Systems group at MERL, Cambridge, MA. He received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 2013 from the University of Michigan and holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Stanford University in Electrical Engineering (2008) and Aeronautics and Astronautics (2009). His main research interests and contributions are in the areas of spacecraft orbital and attitude control, constrained control, model predictive control, and time-varying systems, in which he has authored over 45 peer-reviewed papers and patents.
