Workshop on Massive Datasetsat the International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces
November 15, 2007
Nagoya, Japan
The First International Workshop on Massive Datasets seeks to encourage participants to compare methods for visualization, analysis, and discovery using a common year-scale and building-scale dataset of human activity. It will be held on November 15th 2007, in conjunction with the Ninth International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces to be held in Nagoya, Japan.

We're extending the paper deadline to next Friday, September 14th.
Please remember that we want to hear your early thoughts, and we want to create an event where we can talk about the future of work on these kinds of datasets.
We are now also now soliciting an alternate style of paper for prospective participants:
We'd love to have a conversation about this dataset that includes you! We want this to be an dialog about the future challenges facing these kinds of systems. As an example, face recognition work hit a real wall when people started working on larger galleries. Something that seemed to be a solved problem suddenly was very much not. Did you have a similar experience with this dataset? Did tools that worked on small datasets not work as well on this dataset? That is really important information! Please consider submitting a position paper!
Deadline September 14, 2007
Please indicate if you would like to be considered as an unpublished full paper or a published position paper.
Chris and Yuri
Please submit your papers directly to us via email.
There is a possibility of including workshop papers in the ACM Digital Library. We are currently not planning to do this. The default outcome is currently to only list titles, authors and abstracts on the web page. If this policy has a significant impact on your decision to submit to this workshop please contact us.
The tracklet data has been uploaded. Please read the TRACKLETS.txt file for a description of the data.
Calendar and weather data has been uploaded to the ftp site. Please read the CALENDAR.txt and WEATHER.txt files for documentation.
Raw motion data from May 24, 2007 to June 30, 2007 has also been added.
We are working to get the tracklet data online soon.
These is a possibility that the workshop papers will be included in the ACM Digital Library. More information as it becomes available. Please contact us if you have comments about this.
Raw motion data from March 22, 2006 to May 24, 2007 is now on the ftp server. Please email us to request the password for access. Also there is now a facility map available and basic documentation for the file formats.
In the next couple of days we will upload calendar data and tracklet data.
