Combining DSP, coding and devices for future high-capacity optical fiber networks.

The Optical Communications & Devices team performs research into coherent transmission systems and optical subsystems/devices to enable future high-capacity optical fiber networks. Our work in transmission systems is focused on 100Gb/s, 400Gb/s and 1Tb/s coherent transmission for core networks and submarine systems. We are actively researching advanced modulation formats, error control coding, transmitter and receiver DSP algorithms, backed by experimental verification. For optical subsystems/devices, our focus is on the design automation and optimization technologies for photonic integrated circuits.
