  • Biography

    During his 8 years at the Central Research Laboratory, Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (Amagasaki, Japan), and 13 years AT&T/Lucent Bell Laboratories and other major US companies, Keisuke worked on R&D of semiconductor lasers and optical systems as a technical staff and later as a manager. At MERL he is currently working on simulations of optical devices and systems. He has more than 100 publications in journals and conference proceedings.

    • EC1044: Photonic Integrated Circuits and Nanomaterials Design and Evaluation

      MERL is seeking a highly motivated, qualified individual to join our internship program and conduct research in the area of photonic integrated circuits and nanomaterials design and evaluation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in the simulation and design of active and passive devices for optical communication, as well as nanomaterials. Experience in Lumerical FDTD and INTERCONNECT, Matlab, JePPIX, silicon photonics, hybrid integration, photonic crystals, nanomaterials, optimization algorithms, and photonic device fabrication/measurements would be considered an asset. Candidates who hold a Ph.D. or are in their senior years of a Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply.
