Shantanu Rane joined the Multimedia Group at MERL in 2007. He recently completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University where he applied distributed source coding concepts to error-resilient video transmission. He has a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Minnesota and a B.E. degree in Instrumentation and Control from Pune University, India. Shantanu's research interests are in the areas of image communication and information theory. At MERL, he is working on problems involving distributed compression of images and video.
